Samuel: The Kingmaker – Rotten KidsPlay Audio
Family is a very important part of our lives. We love them, we sometimes struggle with them, but in the end, family is family. However, those of us who follow Christ have an adopted family. The Bible is clear about this, “He predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ,“ (Eph. 1:5).
The book of Samuel has a great deal to say about sonship – most of it very bad! Children in the book of Samuel are often disobedient and very ungodly. So God seems to do something strange. He seems to make adoption the norm, and natural sonship the exception. All those who succeed in the book are “adopted” sons, while the natural sons fail terribly.
So, today, we will learn about God’s idea of sonship and why we must let God father our children. We will also learn that we must always see God as our own father.
