Come, thou long expected Saviour.
Today we celebrate advent Sunday; a day when we think about the wonder and mystery of the coming Messiah. Today our worship will focus around the scripture, with the lighting of candles to symbolize Christ coming into the world.
As we celebrate advent and gather around the Lord’s table, let us all remember that Jesus promised He would come again – the second advent. That event, like the first coming, will occur in God’s perfect time. So let us give thanks for God’s great plan; a plan that brought a Saviour into the world, and a plan that will one day bring us face to face with Him. A plan that is not too late, and not too early; rather, a plan made in God’s perfect time.
For while we were still weak, at the right time,
Christ died for the ungodly. Rom 5:6
