Hark! The Herald Angels Sing – Christmas and EasterPlay Audio
For in Him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through Him to reconcile to Himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of His cross.. Col 1:19-20
Merry Christmas! Happy Easter! How odd these greetings sound in the middle of summer. And how odd it is for us to sing both Christmas carols and Easter songs in August. Yet, today, that is what we will do. As we come to the last few services of our Hymn series, we will consider the best Christmas carol and Easter hymn in our hymnal. And as we do, we should consider why we relegate songs about Christ’s birth to just a few weeks each year. After all, His birth is everything. It’s the foundation of our belief – God with us, and the answer to our prayers – the sacrificial lamb of God. So we will celebrate the greatest days on the church calendar with songs from the greatest hymn writer of all time – Charles Wesley. For God is indeed with us. And we remember that truth in part through the hymns we sing.
