Christian Character – Self-ControlPlay Audio
Whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Colossians 3:17
Habits, addictions, impulses, reactions, over-reactions – in a world filled with thoughtless, quick and often times detrimental actions, it might feel hopeless to hear that God wants us to be in complete control of ourselves. Self-control is not only a fruit of the Spirit, it is also a key building block of Christian character and so pastor Dan will continue his teaching on character and focus on the area of self-control.
As we study this topic, let us all be encouraged that even the most impulsive of people – namely, Peter himself, was used by God, as he slowly learned how to control himself. And just like Peter, our faith will be fruitful if and when we learn self-control.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. Gal. 5:22-23
