Asleep in the Light

Play Audio

Many years ago a contemporary Christian song writer named Keith Green composed a song with powerful and disturbing lyrics. Commenting on the complacency of the Church towards outreach and missions he wrote the following:

Do you see, do you see all the people sinking down? Don’t you care, don’t you care, are you gonna let them drown?

How can you be so numb not to care if they come? You close your eyes and pretend the job’s done.

Can’t you see it’s such a sin? The world is sleeping in the dark that the church just can’t fight. ‘Cause it’s asleep in the light.

Today, Pastor Dan will examine what he calls “The Jonah Syndrome” that is often present in the church and ask the question “Are we asleep in the light?” And he will challenge us to be awake, alert, and ready to reach out to West Hill, Toronto, and beyond.
